Welcome to Simon Tolsons' Sports Injury in Petts Wood
Sports injury is almost an inevitable part of sport at any level. It may take the form of an acute ligament tear or be as mild as post-exercise muscle soreness. Either way, the majority of sports related injuries could be prevented or alleviated by appropriate conditioning of an athlete and the manual skills of a qualified professional therapist. And you have just found that qualified professional, who understands and knows what it's like to be injured, be treated and follow a specific rehabilitation program. Physiotherapy should not be your first thought - a sports osteopath should be for all sports injuries treatment.
Petts Wood Osteopathic Clinic Approach to Sports Injuries
With over 25 years of experience in sports medicine, I have a unique approach to the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries. This is from a background of competitive athletics with Blackheath and Bromley Harriers, as a Senior Athletic and Trampoline Coach, and the Lecturer of Sports Injuries at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone. This has provided me with expertise in sports injuries treatment, physiology, psychology and the biomechanics of human performance.
Petts Wood Sports Injury Clinic Rehab Studio
I have also gained qualifications in both Yoga and Pilates instruction. Petts Wood Osteopathic Clinic has it's own rehabilitation studio where under expert supervision you can be advised on specific rehab exercises with may include Yoga and Pilates based mat work. Therefore I have a unique approach to sports injuries coupling both the hands on approach of osteopathy and the use of eastern exercise and philosophy to both diagnose and restore function to the injured athlete. Many therapists have not got a back ground in strength training, correct stretching techniques, body control techniques, sports psychology as well as the amazing benefits that Yoga in the form or stretches, strengthen and breathing can bring.
Check out Performance Psychology
Having coached several sports to a high standard I am able to appreciate the physical, mental and emotional needs of a modern athlete. My own competitive background in athletics, trampolining and triathlons has allowed me to understand what the sports person goes through in both training and competing. There are not many sports I have not encounted in the treatment room or consulted with performance psychology and sports medicine.
Therefore, here at Petts Wood Osteoapthic Clinic you can be assured I have either played your sport, or dealt with your sport in the form or a sports injury. Physiotherapy just does not have the background knowledge to either understand your sport nor to provide you with the appropriate hands on treatment and the correct rehabilitation conditioning needed for your sport at your your level of participation.
